General information:

The courses are offered online via a live and interactive platform that allows students to interact with the other students and the teacher in the same way they would if they were in a physical classroom. The lessons are not prerecorded videos, however they are recorded during the session so that students can access the video and have their questions answered again and again. This helps the students learn faster as they do not need to spend time taking notes thus remain focus on the session and ask questions. A student can join the lessons from almost any device and location globally that has access to the internet. The students will have weekly assignments based on the content they will be trained on that week. Support is always provided to the students Monday to Friday 10a.m-8p.m for any inquiries regarding the sessions and projects. Students will also join Digireal Studios’s community groups online to help them engage with the rest of the students from previous years, post work, ask questions and seek further support and feedback.

Game & Movie Design – Concept Art (Level 1) (No prior knowledge is required)

Who is it for: Anyone interested into getting familiar with digital concept art design techniques. Anyone interested into studying a related field on an undergraduate level. University students or graduates who aim to level up their skills fast.

Course Details:

The Level 1 course of concept design for games and movies aims to educate the students in the field of concept design for the entertainment industries. The course will introduce the students to image editing applications from the first session and will develop the attendant’s skills and software knowledge as it progresses through the course. The attendants will be trained in the area of character design and environment design and learn effective techniques for developing fundamental skills and creative aspiration. The course will teach the students to use every resource of references and information around them and make them capable of designing complex structures, majestic environments and characters. In addition the attendants will learn to use strategic and brainstorming techniques for structuring ideas when at lack of inspiration. The students will practice skills in fields such as Scale, Perspective, Scene Layout, Scene Mapping, Camera Angles and more. Finally the workshop aims to make the students as efficient as possible by teaching them specific techniques of how to work smarter rather than harder by prioritizing their workflow and saving themselves countless of hours of struggle.

A complete portfolio will be built, with a series of digital environments designed from many angles, along with complete digital character charts that include poses, facial expressions, props and more. In addition, the students are expected to gain a solid understanding of the fundamental techniques that are required to design complex ideas and lastly feel confident using image editing applications.

3D Modeling (Level 1) (No prior knowledge required)

Who is it for: Anyone interested into learning modeling techniques inside 3D software applications. Any student who aims to build a portfolio for further studies on a Bachelor degree or university students/graduates who aim to level up their skills fast.

Course Details:

The course is split in two parts. The first part is solely focused on designing a number of rough concepts like characters, environments, props, products, interiors and exteriors and more. The students will learn to design an orthographic front, back, side and top view of the concepts that will later be imported inside a 3D application to be used as guiding references on the second part of the course.

The second part entails the use of the above references for recreating a 3D modeled representation of each concept design within a 3D application. The students will be trained to use effective and efficient workflows that delve within Polygonal modeling and Non-Uniform Rational Base Spline (Nurbs) modeling. Once modeled, a series of techniques will be used to take the designs through UV Unwrapping, texturing, shading, and lighting processes that are required to render the final images. Finally the rendered images will be post processed within an image editing application to enhance the visual aesthetics by adding secondary finishing touches and details on the images.

3D Animation (Level 1) (No prior knowledge required)

Who is it for: Any student who aims to build a portfolio for further studies on a Bachelor degree or university students/graduates who aim to level up their skills fast.

Course Details:

The course is split in two sections. The first section of the course is divided in two parts, the technical and creative. The creative part is focused on designing a series of simple characters one of which will be selected and modeled in a 3D application. The technical part will shift the course towards training the attendants about 3D modeling techniques that are required to successfully model the character and all his props. The students will also get familiar with UV layouts, texturing, shading, lighting and rigging techniques in order to get their characters ready for the second section of the course and the animation stage.

During the second section of the course the students will complete a series of animation exercises aiming to create skills in the areas of timing for animation, sense of weight, anticipation, facial expressions, walk cycles, run cycles and more. At the end of the course the students will know how to animate in a 3D application using straight ahead animation techniques and pose to pose techniques. Finally, the students will export all the animated exercises by rendering them out frame by frame for compositing purposes. Completing this course a student will have a portfolio with a series of short animated sequences including sound effects and music.
